Brenuakyim and New-Takoradi smoke peace pipe

Tarkwa (W/R) Oct. 22, GNA - The Elders, Assembly and Unit Committee Members of Brenuakyim and New-Takoradi, both near Tarkwa met on Wednesday to settle a longstanding dispute between the two communities following a misunderstanding over the use of basic facilities. For sometime now, residents of Brenuakyim were not allowed to dump refuse at approved locations at New-Takoradi while residents of New-Takoradi were also barred from trading or buying items at the Brenuakyim Market.

After the amicable settlement of the dispute, leaders of the two communities said they would never allow such things to happen again. Nana Kwesi John, Odikro of New-Takoradi said it was time for the two communities to forge ahead in unity to enhance development of the area, saying the dispute was a "very unfortunate situation" that nearly marred the spirit of cooperation between the people.

Mr. Alex Quarm, Assembly Member for Brenuakyim appealed to the people to bury their differences and forge ahead in unity.
