Bredi Number One Local Primary School needs classrooms

Bredi Number One (B/A) May 17, GNA - Mr. Adjei Siakwan, head teacher of the Bredi Number One Local Primary School, in the Nkoranza South District, has appealed to the District Assembly to construct new classroom blocks for the school.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Bredi Number One that the old school block was on the verge of collapse.

The head teacher said the school currently had a population of more than 400 pupils from kindergarten to primary six and proper accommodation was its major problem.

Mr. Siakwan said pupils in the kindergarten studied in a three-classroom 93dwarf" wall structure whilst those at the primary level remained in the old building, which served as the school's foundation.

He said due to the weakness of the old block, the school authorities had raised some wooden boards to support the building to avoid any disaster. "The block currently serves as a death trap to the pupils because any strong wind in the area could collapse the building," Mr. Siakwan stated.

He complained about congestion, which made teaching and learning very difficult. The head teacher appealed to the District Chief Executive, Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum to consider the plight of the pupils and provide decent classroom blocks for them.

Mr. Siakwan, however, thanked the District Assembly for providing quarters for some of the teachers in the area and also providing free desks in the classrooms.

He commended Mr. Nick Danso Adjei, a citizen of the area, and president of the Ghana Link Network, for providing accommodation facilities for other teachers.
