Brakwa Breman Rural Bank holds AGM

Brakwa (C/R), Sept. 21, GNA – The Managing Director of ARB APEX Bank Limited, Mr Eric Osei-Bonsu, has said continuous training of staff to upgrade their knowledge and skills, will help transform and modernize the banking industry.

He said this in a speech delivered on his behalf by Mrs Francisca Dedei Attipoe, Head of Human Capital and Administration Department of APEX Bank at the 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Brakwa Breman Rural Bank Limited at Brakwa.

Mr Osei-Bonsu said APEX Bank has signed an agreement with DANIDA to support the rural banking industry.

He said the project is made up of three key components- rural finance wholesale fund, merger fund and capacity building support for staff of Rural and Community Banks (RCBs) and ARB Apex bank.

He said the rural finance wholesale fund is designed to accommodate activities which requires loans whose tenure exceed 18 months while the merger fund is to assist RCBs to enable them stay in the banking industry.

He said the capacity building support fund is to help the banks to train their staff to discharge their duties in line with banking regulations.

Mr Osei-Bonsu appealed to the Brakwa Breman Rural Bank to avail itself of the opportunities the project is offering to help strengthen the bank.

Commander Charles K. Addae, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank, said during the year under review, invested Treasury Bills increased from GH¢592.00 Ghana Cedis in 2009 to GH¢662, 00.00 in 2010.

He said the bank intends to diversify its investment activities by increasing its portfolio in micro finances programmes.

Commander Addae appealed to the shareholders of the bank to increase their shares and also support the bank’s developmental efforts.
