Book on infrastructure and economic wellbeing launched

A book on investment, infrastructure and economic wellbeing, has been launched in Accra in a move to simplify some economic concepts and theories relating to infrastructural development and its bearing on economic development.

The book titled: “Infrastructure; Is it the Best Use of Our Money?” has 109 pages covering three chapters with introduction to the background of the title and topics including: Analysis of the Correlation Between Infrastructure and Wellbeing, Some Interesting NPP claims and conclusion on the subject matter.

Mr Razak Abu, the Author and Convener, Research and Advocacy Platform said the book has put together records of developmental projects and management of the economy of past regimes to make the Ghanaian more informed about the choices on offer come November 7.

“We the Research and Advocacy Platform wish to provide these facts, as our contribution to the burgeoning democracy of Ghana, a re-focus to the use of evidence and knowledge as basis for the country’s electoral discourse,’’ he said.

He urged the youth to get themselves informed to ask questions and allow knowledge and research be their guide instead of the use of abusive language and expression of emotions to address issues.

Mr Steve Akuffo, Commissioner, National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), who chaired the function, said infrastructural development had become more coordinated as compared to past years when Government did not have to build on infrastructure.

He said the NDPC has come out with a long term development plan looking at the national infrastructure in a longer term.

The Research and Advocacy Platform is a policy think-tank that conducts research into policy issues of national interest.
