Bishop Zormelo doffs hat for government

Gomoa Aboso C/R, Feb. 19, GNA - The Senior Bishop's Deputy of the A.M.E Zion Church, the Reverend Dr G. N. Zormelo, on Wednesday commended the government for providing adequate infrastructure for basic schools to promote education in the country.

He also lauded the authorities for constructing new roads and rehabilitating the deplorable ones to facilitate national development.

Bishop Zormelo was speaking at a three-day convention of the Women's Home and Overseas Society of West Ghana Conference of the A.M.E Zion Church, Ghana, at Gomoa Aboso, near Agona Swedru.

He praised the government for introducing the National Health Insurance Scheme to make health accessible to all Ghanaians. Bishop Zormelo noted that the government's free cocoa spraying exercise had resulted in an increase in cocoa production.

He commended the government for using the HIPC Fund for development projects and noted that the Presidential Special Initiatives on Cassava and Oil Palm were gradually improving the agriculture sector. Rev Dr Zormelo suggested to the government to provide more vans to the Information Service Department to enable it educate the people on the causes, effects and prevention of HIV/AIDS.

Bishop Zormelo urged Christians to fast and pray for the peace, prosperity and security of the country.

Rev Dorothy Davis, West Ghana Field Worker of the Church praised the Women's Society for its contribution to the development of the Church and asked the group to intensify efforts at wining more souls for Christ.
