Akim Oda (E/R), Dec. 30, GNA- Members of the Akim Kotoku Oman Nkoso, a benevolent society at Akim Oda on Thursday spent several hours in a clean-up exercise at Akim Oda.

Led by their President, Madam Grace Brew, the members weeded the surroundings, swept and desilted choked gutters. In an interview with the GNA after the exercise, Madam Brew said the programme was aimed at ensuring that the environment was rid of filth.

She said the exercise would be carried out on a monthly basis to help ensure that the town was clean at all times.

Madam Brew spoke about plans by the society to assist the aged in the area by providing them with their basic needs to help prolong their lifestyle.

She said a research conducted by the society revealed that some aged people died of preventable diseases due to poverty and neglect. Mr Oheneba Kwafo Ntow, an Assembly member, was grateful to the Birim South District Assembly for providing the group with tools and equipment for the exercise.
