Begoro/Kdua drivers charge low lorry fares

Begoro (E/R), April 25, GNA - Mr Alex Kwabena Amoama, the Chairman of the Begoro branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, has commended drivers who ply the Begoro/ Koforidua route for charging fares that are lower than those approved by the government. Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Begoro on Friday, Mr Amoama said the drivers are charging low fares in spite of the recent 30 per cent increase in fuel prices.

Urvan buses plying between Begoro and Koforidua now charge 9,000 cedis, up from 7,000 cedis while Peugeot cars charge 10,000 cedis, up from 8,000 cedis.

Mr Amoama commended the drivers for not over-loading their vehicles and said efforts were underway to get drivers plying Begoro to other places to reduce fares.
