Bandoh to contest NPP La Dadekotopon seat

Accra, Jan 22, GNA - Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh, a Businessman has declared his intension to contest the La Dadekotopon parliamentary seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He announced his intention at a get-together for constituency, polling unit executives and party sympathisers at La, in Accra. Alhaji Bandoh who was the campaign coordinator for the 2000 elections in the constituency, said his decision was in response to calls on him to contest since the incumbent had failed to address the numerous problems of the community.

He pointed out that the people had vowed not to return the MP and said he could not sit down for the NPP to lose the seat he worked "so hard" for the party to win.

The Aspiring Candidate said the MP had failed to account for his share of the common fund, explain modalities for the disbursement of the poverty alleviation fund and visit a single cell or polling station agents to interact and sustain their support for the party. He promised to serve the people with humility and to ensure accountability and the development of La.

Mr Ebo Mends, Campaign Manager, pointed out that since the constituency housed many state institutions such as the Armed Forces, Police and Prison Services, which took care of their infrastructure development the MP's share of the common fund should have been enough to serve the needs of the community better.

Other members of the party who have shown interest in challenging Mr Ako Nai are Mr Christ Lartey, a Journalist and philanthropist, Mr Torto Laryea, Advertising Consultant formerly of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Mr Eben Quarcoo, a Journalist and Nii Akwei Oklemekuku, a Businessman. 22 Jan 04
