Banda Omanene asks Attorney-General to probe shooting incident

Banda-Ahenkro (B/A), Oct. 6, GNA - The Omanhene of Banda Traditional Area, Okokyeredom Kwadwo Sito, has petitioned the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General to investigate a recent shooting incident at Banda-Ahenkro on September 15.

Sixteen people, including the Omanhene were wounded in the incident, which occurred during the celebration of the area's yam festival in which 16 people were wounded.

A petition signed by the Chief, copied to the press, indicated that even though the shooting incident happened in the presence of the Banda Police, who were leading the Chief's procession at the time, they were unable to arrest the perpetrators.

The petition stated that the injured persons had also not been invited to give their statement to the Police.

Nana Sito said the chieftaincy matter at Banda was resolved by the Supreme Court in his favour as the Omanhene of Banda Traditional Area, and it is his prayer that the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice would take the shooting incident seriously and bring the perpetrators to book.
