The Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE) of the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly Alhaji Seidu Alidu is suggesting to the Akufo-Addo government and the Muslim community to ban all jams organized after Muslims activities.

He observed that the country always record casualties immediately after Muslim activities such as Eid-ul-fitr, Eid-Ul-Adha and others.

Alhaji Seidu bemoaned Salah celebrations freight with shooting, killing, stampede and deaths saying such atrocities dent the image of the Islamic religion.

His suggestion comes after a 15-year old boy was shot in the head on Tuesday night at Asawase, a suburb of Kumasi.

Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkra, he further suggested that banning of these Salah jams will curb mayhem caused by Muslims youth.

The MCE of Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly wondered why there is always atrocities whenever such festivities are celebrated.

‘Normally, such casualties occur during Salah celebrations. I will be meeting the Ashanti Regional security council today, and I will propose to them that social gatherings in connections with Salah jams be banned in order to prevent recurrence of casualties. I will propose to the Muslim community and the Assembly as well. The ban will go a long way to curb atrocities during Salah jams. We don’t have to wait for another year to experience more casualties,’ he suggested.

He believes the ban will go along way to curb violence related issues in the region during Salah festivities.

In 2016, there was a stampede during one of the Salah jams at Asawase community center in Kumasi where majority of people died.
