The Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament (MP) for Lawra Constituency, Anthony Abaryifa Karbo has observed that Ministers under erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) who hailed from the Upper West have woefully failed it.

He said with all their cabinet positions and the seniority they claimed to have had in government, they did little to advance the course of the region yet have the effrontery to accuse the current president of sidelining the region in terms of his appointments.

“With all the Ministers that came from this region what did they do to help the region? They should bow their heads in shame because they have disappointed the residents of the region and failed to use their positions to develop the region which the youngest baby in the country”, he stated.

The Deputy Minister indicated that the current President has been fair in making his appointments contrary to claims by members of the opposition that the region has been sidelined.

Speaking to NPP supporters, he said President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo place premium on the Upper West Region and therefore felt it was apt to make the appointments in the manner he did.

“We are hearing the NDC saying our people, you won five seats yet they are not giving you enough ministerial positions. We hear it all the time but they created a region, had all the ministers from here, yet we saw nothing. What Akufo-Addo has for us is not populism. Let put me a few ministers here and when there is no development, we say it is the ministers in place who did not help you. That is not what Akufo-Addo is talking about but an economic programme that is coming for the north, a programme that will empower the north especially the youth and help those in business”, he revealed.
