Awards for outstanding drivers in Kwaebibirem district

Kade, (E/R) Dec. 08 GNA - The Kwaebibirem district branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) will honour its outstanding drivers at the end of this year. The outstanding drivers will receive cash prizes of one million cedis and certificates of honour during the forth-coming Christmas. The award winners will be the best-behaved driver, the best-dressed driver and the long service porter among all the drivers and members of the union in the district. Consolation prizes will also be given to other deserving members.

Mr. Daniel Anane Boadi, Chairman of Union, addressing members of the Union at Kade said this will serve as a morale booster and encourage the drivers to exhibit a have high sense of discipline, courtesy and inculcate in them decency to raise the standard of the driving profession.

Mr. Boadi said he and the executives of the union would ensure that the award ceremony will not be a nine-day wonder but will continue to exist in the years to come

He said the awards would also encourage drivers all over the country to emulate this to raise the standard of drivers and also win the aspirations of people from all walks of life, especially tourists that would visit the country in the forth-coming 50th Anniversary celebration of the country's independence and the CAMP 2008 scheduled to take place in the country. Mr. Boadi and the executives used the occasion to appeal to the drivers to be courteous to passengers and the public and also be very cautious during the coming Christmas to make it accident-free.
