Award winning farmers tour facilities in W/R

Capt James Koranteng, the Managing Director of the Takoradi Port, said there was dignity in farming and appealed to farmers not to relent in their efforts at producing to sustain the local economy.

He said “See your selves as people who have the key to the very survival of the Ghanaian and be committed in your work.”

Capt Koranteng was speaking during a tour of the Takoradi Port by the National Award Winners. The tour precedes the national event to be held at Sefwi-Wiawso.

He said Ghana’s economy could only do well if farmers continue to produce the cash crops, fish and other products to grow the GDP of the state and appealed to the youth to also go into farming.

The farmers also visited the Regional House of Chiefs where they interacted with the chiefs led by Osagyefo Dr. Kwamina Ennimil IV.

He said gone were the days when farming was seen as punishment adding, “The future is bright since more and more people particularly the youths are taken interest in farming”.

From the house of Chiefs the group went to the Naval Base at Sekondi for a sea trip. The almost one-hour sea trip had some vomiting and others described it as once in a lifetime experience.

The Award Winning farmers later visited the Takoradi Thermal Plant.
