Avoefe raises fund for project

Aflao, April 14, GNA - The Chiefs and people of Avoeme, a suburb of Aflao, realised 4,000 Ghana cedis from a fund-raising in support of a vocational-technical school project, on Easter Sunday. The project was initiated by the Aflao-Avoeme Development Association (AADA), to enable the youth in the area to acquire vocational and technical skills.

Ms. Mawuena Dumor, Head of Corporate Services Division of Scancom limited, MTN Network, donated 1000 Ghana cedis towards the project and urged parents to send their children to school. She observed that technical and vocational education was the securest means of making the youth employable and commended the association for the initiative.

Ms. Dumor, who hails from the area, pledged her support for the project and urged the youth to go to school to acquire skills and knowledge needed for national development.

She urged the people to explore the economic benefits of their cultural potentials, including drumming and dancing. Togbui Anugbo II, Dufia of Avoeme, urged the people to sustain their self-help spirit. He appealed to government to provide the people with potable water and electricity and repair roads in area to facilitate economic activities.

Mr. Doe Kornyoh, assembly member for the area, donated shovels, rakes and a wheelbarrow to youth groups in the area, to support communal labour.
