Avenor Traditional Area installs new chief

Ho, Dec. 17 GNA - Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, has appealed to chiefs to use their rich experience to rally the people around them to eradicate illiteracy and poverty. He said chiefs were no longer installed to lead their people in wars but in the development of their areas.

Togbe Afede said this when Togbui Sakpaku VIII, Miafiaga of Avenor Traditional Area in the Akatsi District, was introduced to the people of Asogli State at a ceremony in his palace in Ho at the weekend. Togbui Sakpaku, 59, known in private life as Mr. Philip Mensah, is the Manager of Glory Oil and Total Filling stations in Ho. Togbe Afede congratulated the people of Avenor Traditional Area for the peace and unity prevailing in the area and appealed to them not to isolate themselves from the new chief but to cooperate with him for the development of the area. Togbe Sakpaku called for co-operation among chiefs in the region to speed up its development.

He pledged to work assiduously for the development of the area and appealed for the sustenance of the peace prevailing in the area. Among those present was Togbe Howusu XII, Avafia (War Chief) of the Asogli State.
