Australia donates to schools, communities in Ahanta West

Agona-Nkwanta (W/R), June 9, GNA - The Australian Government Development Agency (AusAID) on Wednesday presented water storage utensils and 13 wheel chairs worth 245 million cedis to a number of communities and schools in the Ahanta West District. The items included 11 polytanks and 75 dual water containers. Presenting the items, Mr John Kow Yankson, Ahanta West District

Project Manager of World Vision Ghana (WVG), said the AusAID provided the funding through the World Vision International (WVI) in support of the Ahanta Health and Sanitation Project. He said the polytanks were to be used to store water during the rainy season to complement water from boreholes in the various communities.

Mr Yankson said the dual water containers were meant to improve sanitation in schools, while the wheel chairs were to enhance the movement of the disabled to enable them to contribute towards the growth of the country. He said WVG would continue to seek support to train and equip people in the Ahanta West District. Mr Peter Amenu-Kponoryo, Ahanta West District Co-ordinating Director, said the Assembly would assist to maintain the items and ensure that they were used judiciously.
