Atwima DISEC calls for peace at Nkawie-Panin

Nkawie (Ash), Oct. 10, GNA - The Atwima District Security Committee (DISEC) has warned the people of Nkawie-Panin that it would deal drastically with anybody who takes the law into his hands to create confusion in the town.

The DISEC said it was the only body that dealt with security matters in the district and therefore, warned people who engage the police and "machomen" to breach the peace to stop the habit. The warning followed the shooting of a 60-year-old woman, Madam Adwoa Konto in the right arm at the Nkawie-Panin chief's palace last weekend.

Madam Konto is on admission at the Nkawie Government Hospital where she is responding to treatment.

Mr Charles Yeboah, the Atwima District Chief Executive, who is the chairman of DISEC, asked the people to refrain from spreading false rumours, which he said was breeding hatred in the community.

He called on the chiefs, the queen mother and the people of Nkawie-Panin to allow peace to prevail to enable the district assembly to initiate development projects for the town.
