‘Atta Miisiim’ Demonstration To Hit Tamale On 13th March, 2012

The Young Patriots on 13th March, 2012 will hold a mammoth demonstration through the principal streets of Tamale in the Northern Region. The demonstration is against the deceit of the three Northern regions through the use of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) which is today a mirage. It is also against the advance fee fraud (419) of some GHC 674m perpetrated by the government on the people of Ghana under false claims of judgement debt.
On the 20th of June, 2011 or thereabout, the spokesperson of the Vice President, Mr John Jinapor indicated to the people of Ghana (see daily graphic, 21st June 2011) that the Vice President had secured a loan of $340m for SADA. On the 24th of December 2011, President Mills travelled to the United States to supposedly meet Mr Jeffry Sachs and also secured a phantom $18m loan for SADA. A month ago, the Vice President again granted an interview to the effect that GHC200m was ready for SADA and that a cheque of GHC100m was ready and will be in the SADA account the following day.
The above monies are the equivalent of the GHC600m that the NDC government should have committed to SADA by today. Our checks however indicate that no such monies have been made available to SADA.
The SADA secretariat is empty and not a single project has been completed in the name of SADA. The sheanut processing plant, groundnut processing plant, the Hydro project at Pawlugu, the fufulsu-Damango road, the Bolga-Bawku road, the expansion of the Bolga general hospital and the Wa polyclinic are but a few projects for which ‘Sakawa’ sods have been cut by the Vice President for which no brick has been laid.
The continuous deception of Northerners by the NDC government and especially the Vice President must stop. We have been taken for a ride for far too long.
In a further scheme to deny Ghanaians justice in the Woyome-gate saga, the Deputy Minister of information, Mr Ablakwa a couple of days ago posited that, vital documents in relation to Woyome and some other claims worth over GHC 600m are missing. This advance fraud being visited on the poor people of Ghana by the NDC government and the three Northern regions in particular will be resisted on 13th March, 2012.
The March is to pressure government to first and foremost;
1. Pursue the Woyome matter to its logical end
2. Retrieve all the advance fraud claims of over GHC 600m which the government has wrongly termed judgement debt
3. Put all the GHC 51.2m of the Woyome money into the SADA account to accelerate development in the three Northern Regions
4. The immediate release of the five NPP activists in Tamale prisons who have been illegally detained over the past three year.
Failure to address the above concerns will lead to the use of all legal means necessary to ensure that the three Northern Regions get their fair share of the national cake and for justice to be served.
