Asuom youth petitions Okyenhene on chieftancy issues and insecurities

Asuom Youth Association (AYA) has petitioned Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, Okyenhene on Chieftancy Issues that are looming in Asuom, bad roads and insecurity in the community.

The Petition, which was jointly signed by the National President of AYA, Mr. Maxwell Atuanor Dwirah and the General Secretary, Rev. Daniel Kwasi Opoku, was delivered to the Okyenhene at a two-days durbar held in his honour during his 20th Anniversary Royal tour to the chiefs and people of Asuom and its environs on Saturday, 14th September and Sunday, 15th September, 2019 at Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirem Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The Youth of Asuom called on Okyenhene to urgently intervene to avert the potential chieftancy crisis for the search of the rightful successor to the late Asuom Asona Abusuapanyin Brobbey, who passed away recently and has been given a befitting burial two months ago.

The petition also mentioned of the bad roads in the community, especially, Kade to Asuom, which we they have been told had been given to a contractor over two year ago but no work has been done on the road.

“Your Royal Majesty, we are very sad about the bad roads you used when coming to Asuom from Kade. We want to plead with you to use your high office to speak to the President of Ghana and the Minister of Roads and Highways to, as a matter of urgency, see to the construction of our roads. We know you have always shown interest in the roads in your kingdom, but, as you have had the first-hand experience of the deplorable state of Kade to Asuom road, we are pleading with you to reiterate it to the powers that be", the petition said.

The petiton further mentioned insecurity in Asuom and its environs, especially, robbery on the highways and the township and called on Okyenhene to speak to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to beef up security as well as providing vehicles and other logistics to the police in the community to combact this crimes in Asuom and its adjourning communities.

Copies of the petition were also given to the Chief of Asuom, Osabarima Ofosuhene Apenteng II, MP for Tema West and a royal native of Asuom, Hon. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, MP for Kade, Hon. Kwabena Tenase, Municipal Chief Executive for Kade, Hon. Antwi Boasiako

PETITION TO THE OKYEHENE, OSAGYEFUO AMOATIA OFORI PANIN DURING
HIS ROYAL VISIT TO ASUOM ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY 14TH & 15TH
SEPTEMBER,2019.


It is with much gladness that the youth of Asuom welcome Your Royal Majesty to our humble town. We wish to congratulate you on your Twentieth Anniversary as King. We thank God for what he has used you to do and pray for more strength, long life and divine wisdom for you. We also thank you for the many developments you have brought to Okyeman and your positive impact in the lives of your people of which we are part.

Your Royal Majesty, as your children, we wish to draw your attention to three things which are dear to the heart of the youth and the people of Asuom.

First of all, as you are well aware, the late Asuom Asona Abusuapanyin has been given a befitting burial about two months ago, but search for his successor is breeding conflict in the royal family and the need to act swiftly to avert crisis is very important. We call on you as the King of the land to as a matter of urgency intervene to avert the potential crisis. This when done, will maintain peace and pave way for the planning of a befitting burial of the late queen mother.

Your Royal Majesty, we are very sad about the bad roads you used when coming to Asuom. We want to plead with you to use you high office to speak to the President of Ghana and the Minister of Roads to as a matter of urgency see to the construction of our roads. We know you have always shown interest in the roads in your Kingdom but we ask that, as you have had a firsthand
experience of the very deplorable roads, you once again speak about its construction with the powers that be.

Furthermore, the state of insecurity in Asuom is becoming very alarming; robberies and attacks in the township and on the highways and therefore we plead that you help in calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to beef up security as well as providing vehicles and other equipment to promote policing in the township and adjourning communities.

Osagyefuo, we pray the good Lord to make the Twentieth Anniversary successful and continue to use you in developing Okyeman. May the Lord always grant you His divine blessings and presence, may He never forget to make your Kingship boundless.
