Assemblyman to help educate the electorate to register

Navrongo (U/E), Feb. 25, GNA- Mr Braimah Samjage, Assemblyman for Namolo/Saboro electoral area in the Navrongo Central Constituency, has formed a 10-member committee to do house-to-house education of the electorate to register during the voters' registration exercise. Speaking to the GNA in Navrongo on Wednesday, the Assemblyman said the move was to support the efforts of the Electoral Commission (EC) to ensure that the exercise, which begins from March 16 to March 29, was successful.

He said there was the likelihood that many people particularly the electorate from the rural areas, would not understand the replacement exercise, thinking that since their names were already on the register, they would not turn up to register. He explained that the house-to-house education would let many of the electorate understand the exercise and come out in their numbers to register.

He said the committee had already started work in the Namolo East area. Mr Samjage said similar committees would be set up in all the communities within his jurisdiction to ensure that everybody was covered and called on the Kassena/Nankana District Assembly to give moral and material support to members to enable them to carry out the exercise successfully.
