Assemblyman mobilising funds in aid of education

Obuasi (Ash), Nov. 21, GNA - The Assemblyman for Obuasi-Anyinam, Mr Lawrence Nana Obeng Bondah, has expressed the desire to mobilise the various companies and well-to-do citizens to set up an education fund to support the needy but brilliant children in the electoral area. =93One of my major missions and visions is to set up an education fund where the various companies and citizens, both resident and non-resident would be appealed to, to support so that needy but brilliant pupils and students would be assisted in their schooling=94, he told the Ghana News Agency in an interview.

The assemblyman called for stakeholder support to promote education in the area.

Mr Bondah, a Banker, said he would initiate contacts with mining and other companies operating in the area to see how best they could help solve the problem of youth unemployment in the electoral area. The assemblyman pointed out that the Anyinam community lacks some basic social amenities like potable water and electricity and said with unity and sense of purpose, those needs could be met. He therefore appealed to the electorate, especially those he contested with and their supporters, to team up with him to promote the development of the area.

=93Let us do away with divisive tendencies and unite for the progress of the electoral area=94.

The assemblyman commended his opponents in the election for the maturity they showed after he was declared the winner and appealed to them to put the defeat behind them and rally behind him for the attainment of the expected development.

Mr Bondah said his victory was for the entire community and assured that he would not discriminate should 93anything good come out of his stewardship=94.
