Duusi(UER), Oct. 12, GNA - Mr Williams Gana Sampana, Assemblyman for Duusi in the Talensi-Nabdam District of Upper East Region, has stressed the need for unity among the electorate to accelerate the areas development.

He said "No meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of disunity."

Mr Sampana made the call at a victory rally at Duusi on Wednesday to express his gratitude to the people for electing him to represent them in the assembly.

He appealed to the people especially the defeated candidates to bury their differences and rally behind him to develop the area. Mr Sampana announced that he would soon mobilize the women into groups to enable them acquire loans from the assembly and other financial institutions to undertake income generation ventures to improve their living standards.

He said with the introduction of the Capitation grant and the School Feeding Programme, school enrolment had increased and the few schools in the area could not admit the pupils.

Mr Sampana pledged to negotiate with the assembly and stakeholders in education in the area to ensure that more schools were built to cater for all school-going children.

He expressed appreciation to the electorate for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work assiduously to improve the road network in the communities through the assembly.

Mr Sebastian Bisnab, Talensi-Nabdam District Chief Executive, told the people that the assembly concept was about development and needed all hands on deck.

He appealed to the people to rally behind the assemblyman and support, him to develop the area.

"Opinion leaders, unit committee members, traditional authorities, the youth and community members have a role to play towards development, and not the assemblyman alone," he added.
