Assembly to start prosecuting sanitation offenders

The Gomoa West District Assembly will soon start prosecuting house owners, who do not provide toilet facilities in their houses as well as people who defecate indiscriminately.

Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, District Chief Executive (DCE), announced this when he was inaugurating a ten-seater water-closet facility at Apam Lorry Park.

The facility was provided by Urban Poverty Reduction Project in conjunction with the Assembly.

Mr Aidoo-Mensah said the initiative of the assembly would improve sanitation and help to reduce diseases such as cholera.

He appealed to people to observe good sanitation to make them healthy.

Mr Aidoo-Mensah advised Ghana Private Road Transport Union which was managing the toilet, to ensure that it was kept clean.

Mr John Cofie, Apam Branch Chairman of the GPRTU, assured the DCE that they would ensure proper maintenance of the facility.**
