All 32 members of the Sissala West District Assembly at the weekend received motorbikes from the Government to aid in the discharge of their duties at the local level.

Mr Mohammed Zackarea Bakor, the District Chief Executive (DCE), and Mr Patrick Alhassan, the Member of Parliament for Sissala West, handed over the motorbikes to Mr Ali Tahiru, the Presiding Member (PM), on behalf of the Assembly members.

Mr Alhassan encouraged members to register the motorbikes as soon as possible because, as role models, they should not be seen riding unregistered motorbikes.

He urged them to avoid over-speeding and endeavour to wear their crash helmets to avoid accidents.

Mr Bakor said the procurement of the motorbikes was an indication of Government’s commitment to ensuring the decentralisation system functioned properly and commended the Assembly members for their patience.

He appealed to members to use the motorbikes to get in touch with their people to know their needs so as to better help in solving them.

Receiving the motorbikes, the Presiding Member commended the Government for honouring its promise to make their work effective adding that it was a great motivation for the members to continue to work hard.

He said the bikes would help improve mobility and punctuality to Assembly meetings.
