Assembly commends government for elevating district

Ejisu (Ash), Dec. 10, GNA- The Ejisu-Juaben District Assembly has commended the government for elevating the District to Municipal status. Mr Michael Dwomor Sarpong, Presiding Member, on behalf of the assembly, expressed their gratitude to President J.A. Kufuor and his government during the third ordinary meeting of the assembly at Ejisu. He said the NPP government has helped to develop the District and mentioned the reshaping of roads, construction of schools, markets, clinics and the provision of electricity to communities and the appointment of their Member of Parliament (MP) as the Foreign Minister as some of their achievements

Mr Sarpong also commended the people of the area for their hard work, dedication to duty and the prevailing peaceful atmosphere, which has culminated to the elevation of the district to the municipal status. On his part, Mr Yaw Ahenkora Afrifa, District Chief Executive, said the assembly was getting ready to face the challenges of the new status and expressed his profound gratitude to the members of the assembly, heads of department, traditional rulers and the people for their individual and collective efforts, which helped to attain the municipal status.

He said the assembly would resource the police in the area to enable it to maintain peace and clamp down on criminal activities as well as executing their duties professionally.
