An aspiring Assembly member for Manhean Electoral Area in the Amasaman Constituency, Daniel Nii Aryee Aryeetey (aka Shiba Rayy), has donated streetlight bulbs to residents of Afuaman, a community in the electoral area.

The donation, which was made at the weekend, was in response to a request by the residents during the campaign rounds of Nii Aryee Aryeetey in Afuaman.

After the donation, Nii Aryee Aryeetey used the opportunity to appeal to the residents to vote massively for him on December 17, 2019 (District Assembly Election Day) to enable him become the Assembly member.

He assured that he would do more by extending the donation to other areas within the electoral area, when given the nod.

“I will be committed and do everything in my power to augment the efforts of residents’ associations in the various communities within the Manhean Electoral Area to deal with security challenges confronting them if I am elected the Assembly member,” the assembly man aspirant promised.

For their part, the residents expressed appreciation to Nii Aryee Aryeetey for the kind gesture. They promised to ensure that the lights are put to good use.

Later in an interview with Weekend Today, Nii Aryee Aryeetey intimated that when an area is well lit, particularly in the evening, it scares off armed robbers and miscreants, who usually take advantage of darkness to perpetuate illegal acts.

The donation, he said, was to help increase the visibility of security and also enhance security patrols in the area, especially in the night.

Even before the Afuaman donation, Nii Aryee Aryeetey had made similar donations to Manhean, Tigo Pole amongst other areas.

In all, he disclosed to the paper that he has so far fixed twenty (20) streetlight bulbs in various parts of his electoral area.

On his plan for the electoral area, Nii Aryee Aryeetey reiterated that youth empowerment would be his topmost priority when he is elected as the Assembly member.

“And I aim to achieve this by collaborating with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to help empower the youth economically through income generation initiatives,” he said.

“…I would regularly inform residents on opportunities that exist in the public and private spaces so that they can take advantage of them to improve their lot.”

Nii Aryee Aryeetey affirmed that he would provide a proactive, productive and an effective leadership, with the focus of building the capacity of the unemployed in the area with soft skills.

Furthermore, he said when elected, his administration would work in tandem and closely with the municipal assembly to bring development to the various communities in the area.

“I would also mobilise the youth to participate in sporting activities and development projects within their communities,” Nii Aryee Aryeetey assured.

Nii Aryee Aryeetey disclosed that he would encourage the formation of Landlord Associations in communities within his electoral area.

This would help identify challenges confronting each community to enable solutions to be found to them, he explained.

“I would also liaise with the chiefs in the various communities to revive the old spirit of communal labour,” he promised.

He gave the firm assurance that he would work with the various Landlord Associations to form and strengthen Watchdog Committees to protect the communities from criminals.

According to Nii Aryee Aryeteey, he would collaborate with the various health facilities within his electoral area to organise periodic health screening exercise for the residents, adding that the aged would be given special dispensation.

Touching on some of the things he has done for his electoral area, Shiba Rayy told Weekend Today that in the year 2017, he helped formed a Watchdog Committee in Manhean to prevent criminal activities in the area.

“Indeed the Watchdog Committee achieved a lot and helped apprehending loads of criminals,” he recounted.

Nii Aryee Aryeetey entered into politics in 2004, and has since served in various capacities, especially at the local level.

He was elected a Unit Committee member in 2010 and 2015 respectively. And during his tenures as a unit committee member, he contributed his quota towards lifting the image of the Manhean Electoral Area.
