Assemblies urged to collaborate with Chamber of Commerce

Sekondi, Nov 4, GNA- Mr James Asiedu Kainyiah, Chairman of the Sekondi-Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on Tuesday called on district assemblies to collaborate with the chamber to promote the private sector.

He was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sekondi on his return from China where he attended an International Trade Fair at Guangzhou and Shanghai.

Mr Kainyiah said the assemblies should hold frequent dialogue with the chamber on how the private sector could be developed and how the assemblies could utilise business opportunities to improve living conditions of the people.

He said the business community should have representation at the district assemblies to develop the sector.

Mr Kainyiah said the President is doing well with his Golden Age of Business policy, which if seriously implemented, could lay the foundation for the industrial and economic development of the country. He said the initiative should be fully supported by district assemblies through collaboration with local businessmen adding, "Golden Age of Business without businessmen would be a farce."

Mr Kainyiah said the private sector must be given the necessary support if the country is to develop as China and Malaysia and called on Ghanaian workers to change their attitude to work to move the country forward.
