Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa Assembly striving to meet IGF

Breman Asikuma (C/R) Sept. 8 GNA - The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Assembly collected an amount of 95,556.20 Ghana Cedis between January and July, this year, representing 59.03 per cent of the projected Internally Generated Fund (IGF) of 161,890.00 Ghana Cedis for the 2010.

However, a total of GHc84,132.84 was spent as at the end of the first quarter (January-March), representing 55.50 per cent of GHc151,595.59 projected for expenditure for 2010.

The district Chief Executive (DCE), Mrs Georgina Nkrumah Aboah, said these at the Assembly meeting at Breman Asikuma.

She appealed to the Assembly Members to assist revenue collectors when they came to their respective electoral areas to collect revenue in order to maximize their collections.

The DCE said the District's inability to connect to the Internet was a serious indictment on its development.

To this end, the Assembly has decided to purchase some Modems (internet device) for the District's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre for public use, adding that this would go a long way to open-up the district, the DCE said.

Mrs Aboah said in compliance with a directive from the National Security Secretariat in Accra, the District had applied directly to the National communications Authority for the allocation of a frequency for the setting up and operation of a District Assembly public radio station.

She added that currently, a favourable response was being awaited and that the district Assembly's Library Hall had been earmarked for the location of the radio station.
