Kumasi, Aug. 13, GNA - The Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) on Thursday donated GH¢2,000 to the Regional Police Command in appreciation of its efforts at fighting crime in the Region. The Ashanti REGSEC also presented 10 bags of rice, fours bundles of roofing sheets and a carton of cooking oil to the Police. Mr Opoku-Manu, the Regional Minister, commended the Police for their bravery and loyalty in chasing out criminals to ensure peace and security in the Region.

He said by showing patriotism and duty consciousness, the Police have "persistently defied the comfort of their night sleep and outwitted miscreants in our society" to protect innocent and law abiding people. Mr Opuku-Manu asked the Police not to be complacent but to continue to ensure that "the social miscreants never slept". He asked the Police to intensify night patrols and to improve their relationship with the public to enable them to get vital information to enhance their operations.

Mr Opoku-Manu asked the Police to pay particular security attention to industrial and residential areas, electrical installations and cables in the Kumasi Metropolis.

Mr Patrick Timbillah, Regional Police Commander, who received the donation on behalf of the Police, thanked the REGSEC for the gesture and promised that they would redouble their efforts to enable law-abiding citizens to live in peace and security.
