The Member of Parliament for Tema East, Isaac Ashai Odamtten, on Sunday, October 12, 2025, demonstrated his continuous commitment to education by supporting 800 students transitioning from Junior High School (JHS) to Senior High School (SHS).

The event, held amidst heavy rains, marked the successful launch of the first phase of the 5th annual #Back2School initiative.

The MP personally ensured that both day and boarding students were equipped with essential items to facilitate a smooth and successful start to their secondary education.

Day students received brand-new backpacks filled with exercise books, pens, pencils, mathematical sets and other vital academic materials.

Boarding students were presented with trunks and chop boxes containing a wide array of provisions, buckets, toiletries and other necessities for school life.

The event was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including representatives from the Tema Traditional Council, Directors of the Tema East Educational Foundation, the Tema Metro Director of Education (GES), Bernice Ofori and Christie Ablakwah, Head of Supervision and Monitoring for Tema Metro GES.

Also in attendance was Richster Amarh Amarfio, Vice President of the National Fisheries Association of Ghana (NAFAG).

In his address, Ashai Odamtten emphasised the importance of investing in the future of the youth.

“Nothing could dampen our spirits or our resolve to ensure that our children are well-prepared for this critical next step in their academic journey. Investing in their education is an investment in the very future of Tema East and our nation as a whole,” he stated.

He further commended parents and guardians for their continuous support and encouraged the students to take their studies seriously.

“To the 800 students here today, these items are a token of our belief in your potential. I charge you to go to your various schools with determination and focus. Make us proud,” the MP urged.

The #Back2School Initiative is a flagship programme of Ashai Odamtten, designed to alleviate the financial burden on parents and motivate students from the constituency to pursue higher education.
