Asantehene Sends His Police to Arrest People in Kumawu and Bodomase

In the wee hours of today, Monday, 6 March 2017, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II sent his police to Kumawu, Bodomase and Wonoo to assault and arrest some people. This is a follow up of the infliction of police-cum-military brutalities on Kumawuhene Barima Tweneboa Kodua V and his sub-chiefs and the people of Kumawu-Bodomase during the Kumawu Akyempemhene’s funeral on Thursday, 16 February 2017, where the security personnel suffered gunshot wounds in what was the result of a friendly fire on themselves.

From reliable information reaching me, the police were led by one Amos Peprah, a Kumawuman Rural Bank staff, to the homes of all those that have been beaten up, arrested and taken away by the Asantehene’s police. Amos Peprah, the son of one Madam Amma Hemaa covered his face with some cloth but he has been unmasked. Amos Peprah is an uncle to Dr Yaw Sarfo, the alleged Kumawuhene Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua imposed on Kumawu by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II contrary to Kumawu traditions and prevailing Akan conventions.

The police went to Kumawu-Wonoo with intent to arrest Kumawu Akwamuhene Nana Kwasi Bafo II but luckily or unluckily, they did not meet him. However, they are understood to have beaten up his wife, stripped her naked and bolted away with her GHS8, 500. The woman is a trader.

They went to Kumawu-Bodomase resolutely determined to accost and arrest Barima Tweneboa Kodua V’s linguist (Kyeame) but as they could not find him, they have arrested two of his sons that they met in the house.

Sadly, His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo does not give a hoot about the obvious perpetration of injustices by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on the citizens of Kumawuman. He does not want to know or hear anything about it. This goes to conclude that he has indirectly given Asantehene a free licence to do what he wants when he wants. William Shakespeare was very true when he said, "There's no art to find the mind's construction in the face." Under the government of the acclaimed person of incorruptibility and the defender of human rights, Kumawuman citizens are under molestation by a despotic king in a democracy. If anyone had told me the most feared and respected incorruptible Nana Akufo Addo was going to be that soft on Asantehene to allow him infringe on the fundamental human rights of people, I would never have believed it but it is now vividly unfolding under my own naked eyes.

Where have the police taken the arrested persons? Nobody can tell as at writing.
