The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced the temporary closure of selected roads in and around the Manhyia Palace on Thursday, August 21, 2025, for the one-week funeral celebration of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
In a press release on Tuesday, the police stated that the road closures aim to ensure safety, smooth traffic management, and security during the event.
Signed by the Head of Public Affairs, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, the statement noted that affected roads include Manhyia Bonjour Road, Sumankwahene’s Junction Road, Nick Petroleum Filling Station Road, St. Anne’s Anglican Church Road, and Manhyia Government Hospital Road, among others.
Motorists are advised to follow the traffic diversion arrangements, which include detours through Asawase Police Station and Hainako Road to the Kumasi Central Mosque for access to the central business district.
The police have designated specific parking areas for government officials, chiefs, and the general public. Free shuttle services will also be available from designated locations, including Asawasi Methodist Park and the Central Mosque Car Park, to the Manhyia Palace.
Tricycles, rickshaws, and motorbikes will not be allowed on the closed roads or event grounds to ensure safety, orderliness, and smooth traffic flow.
Motorists and the general public are urged to cooperate with police and traffic personnel to ensure a smooth and dignified celebration.
