Asante Presbytery Chairman inducted into office

Kumasi, Feb 16, GNA - The Reverend Akwasi Otuo-Acheampong was at the weekend inducted into office as the Chairman of the Asante Presbytery at a ceremony at the Ramseyer Presbyterian Church in Kumasi. He takes over from the Right Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso who is now the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.

Until his election Rev Otuo-Acheampong, 57, was the District Minister of the Boso Presbyterian Church and will serve in that capacity for four years.

In a sermon, the Right Rev Frimpong-Manso urged churches to re-orient their members on the word of God so as to raise moral standards.

"We must build schools, hospitals, give alms and provide other social services, but the most important thing is for churches to put their own members under strict scrutiny with the view to winning lost souls for Christ".

Rt Rev Frimpong-Manso appealed to Christians to pray for peace to prevail in Togo since the crisis in that country did not augur well for Africa's search for peace.

Rev Otuo-Acheampong expressed gratitude to the leadership of the church and appealed to the members to support him.
