Asamoah-Boateng donates cookers to vocational centre

Biriwa (C/R), Aug 15, GNA - Mr. Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman West, has donated 22 electric cookers and two ovens to the Biriwa Vocational and Rehabilitation centre. The items, valued GHc7,000, were the MP's personal contribution to the operations at the centre.

Mr. Asamoah-Boateng, who is also the Minister of Information and National Orientation, called on Ghanaians to disregard the notion that vocational and institutions were for school drop-outs and academically weak students.

He announced plans to establish an education endowment fund to support Information Communication Technology and engineering students to produce the required manpower towards oil exploration efforts in the area.

He promised to procure a bus for the Centre to enable it operate effectively.

He advised the students to be serious with their studies, saying their future depend on how they conduct themselves. Ms. Jacklina Appah, Headmistress, thanked Mr Asamoah-Boateng for the gesture and called on past students, philanthropists, donor agencies and friends of the Centre to help to improve its condition.

She assured the Minister that the items would be used judiciously to enhance work at the home economics department. Mr. Robert Quainoo-Arthur, Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive, urged Ghanaians to rally behind the government and vote massively to return the New Patriotic Party to power in the up-coming elections.
