Asafohema donates to Basic Schools at Gomoa-Asebu

Gomoa-Asebu (C/R), Sept. 27, GNA - The Asafohema of Gomoa-Asebu, near Pomadze in the Central Region, Nana Esi Abbam-Amoah II, on Friday donated teaching and learning materials worth 1.5 million cedis to the Asebu-Pomadze Primary and Junior Secondary Schools.

The items include science, mathematics and English textbooks, exercise books, notebooks, pencils, rulers and erasers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nana Kojo Beedu II, Odikro of Gomoa-Asebu, commended Nana Abbam-Amoah for her efforts in promoting education and called on citizens of Gomoa-Asebu and Pomadze to emulate her.

Nana Abbam-Amoah said the donation is to support the government's efforts to promote basic education in rural communities.

Known in private life as Madam Esther Esi Obeng-Bonsu, an official of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Nana Abbam-Amoah advised school children to concentrate on their studies. She announced plans to make a similar presentation to Winneba Secondary School her alma mater next year and urged parents to pay more attention to the education of their children.

Nana Abbam-Amoah also presented 200,000 cedis as her personal contribution towards the construction of a new market to give the town a facelift.

Mr Kofi Keitu, Headmaster of the Asebu-Pomadze Junior Secondary School, thanked her for the gesture and gave the assurance that the materials would be put to good use to enhance teaching and learning.
