Accra, Nov. 3, GNA - Mr Nelson Kanzoni, newly elected Assemblyman for Arigu in the West Mamprusi District of the Northern Region, has said it is his vision to rid the area of conflicts which have brought untold hardship in many communities.

Mr Kanzoni, who was speaking at a meeting organized by the Arigu Youth Association in Accra on Wednesday, expressed his gratitude to members for making his election possible.

He said recent conflicts in the area had created enmity between once peaceful families, couples and children, adding that it should be their moral duty to help stamp out the work of evil minded persons. Mr Abuzongo Kanzoni, Chairman, pledged the Association's readiness to sensitise members and all Arigu citizen to assist in the pursuance of his noble vision while also providing support in the implementation of development projects.

He urged the Assemblyman not to rest on his oars but to undertake educational programmes on peaceful co-existence through which he would be able to unite both residents and non-resident citizens. Mr Abuzongo said the Assemblyman should also seek the interest of widows who were hunted by obsolete customary rites. Mr Paul Anaba, Director of Hands of Mercy Orphanage, appealed to Mr Kanzoni to put across the plight of orphans at Assembly meetings for solutions to be found to them. 03 Nov. 06
