Apawawase appeals for reshape of bad road

Apawawase (E/R), Oct 27, GNA - The people of Apawawase near Asuboi in the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District have appealed to the District Assembly to reshape the bad portions of the feeder roads in the area to avert motor accidents. Making the appeal through the Ghana News Agency at Apawawase on Tuesday, the opinion leaders, Francis Kofi Tenge, Assembly member, and Nana Antweri Amponsah, Odikro of Apawawase, described the stretch of the Apa Awisem-Apawawase-Asuboi feeder road as "the most dangerous portion and a death-trap". Mr Tenge said travelling on that road, especially at night was horrifying, because of its rocky nature. He noted that the Asuboi Zongo-Otumfo and Otumfo-Wontumi stretches of the weedy narrow lane which had turned a foot-path, was posing a danger to lives as vehicles often veered off to the wrong side. Nana Antweri said during the rainy seasons, the road became slippery for motorists to travel on, while during the dry seasons it became very dusty, adding that drivers had stopped plying the route and food stuffs locked up there were getting rotten. He noted that if nothing was done to arrest the current situation, the Apawawase-Asubi area would be completely cut off from the rest of the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District.
