Anthony Baoakye wins Cowbell National Challenge 2016

River park Brong Ahafo’s roller Anthony Boakye emerged overall winner of this year’s cowbell cycling challenge held in the Ashanti region over the weekend.

The Sunyani-based cyclist clocked an overall best time of 5hrs 22 mins 18 sec ahead of compatriot Nuru Pardie Alhassan and Newton Kofi of Velo stars and quickstep cycling clubs respectively.

The first stage of the race began with 74 cyclists who cleared a distance of 100 km from Nkawkaw to Kumasi. Nuru Pardie was the stage winner on the day and made a time of 1 hr 23mins 53 sec.

The second stage which rolled from Kumasi to Adugyaman and back to the garden city saw Anthony Boakye winning that particular stage in style edging out the time made y Nuru Pardie.

The river park roller maintained the calmness of his 9 seconds lead in the bunch and never hesitated any attacks as he protected his time a bunch finish in the third stage from Kumasi to Koforidua and back to Kumasi in a heated distance of 82km.

Brands manager for Promasidor , producers of cowbell products, Mr. joseph Ashong expressed his delight at the performance of the cyclists and congratulated them for their sterling efforts. He again admonished them to train harder as the cowbell brand is supportive of the sport and will live up to the billing in terms of promotion.

The overall best fighter again went to Anthony Boakye who again won the overall best by points representing the Green Jersey.

Solomon Tagoe from Gutten cycling club in Accra won the overall youngest best y time.

The winners of the various categories were given cash prizes and products worth GH20.000.
