Another rainstorm displaces 308 in the Zabzugu District

Another severe rainstorm hit Sabare No.1 and Sabare No.2 on Wednesday in the Zabzugu District of the Northern Region destroying 31 houses and left 308 people displaced.

Some of the houses and schools destroyed include Sabare CHPS compound, Sabare Central Mosque, Sabare Junior High School and the Sabare No.2 DA Primary School among others.

Alhaji Abdul Wahab Umar, the Zabzugu District Chief Executive, said there were four causalities involving two men and two children with one of the men having a serious fracture on the leg and are currently in the Zabzugu District hospital receiving treatment.

He said whiles there was a loss of 12 sheep in the rainstorm, the displaced people are now living with their family members and friends.

Mr Zakaria Yakubu, the Zabzugu District NADMO Coordinator said the first rainstorm which hit the district destroyed several houses in the Zabzugu and Nakpale Townships displacing many people.

He appealed to the NADMO, NGOS, and individuals to come to the aid of the victims.

Mr Yahaya said the resource of the Assembly is inadequate to rehabilitate the destroyed houses.

He said the list of the first victims has been submitted to NADMO headquarters for assistance.
