Anomabo to get a new police station

Anomabo (C/R), Dec 13, GNA - Mr Kofi Atta Ayensu, Managing

Director of Ayensu River Estates, an Accra-based estate

development company, is building a new police station with

residential facilities for the police at Anomabo in the Central Region. Mr Ayensu, a citizen of Gomoa Kumasi, near Apam, said the

project was part of the social responsibilities of his company to the

town. He said this when he presented some items to some 34 needy

pupils and nine adults in the Anomabo Traditional Area at

Anomabo. He said last year, his company presented incentives to teachers

in the traditional area to encourage them to work harder, but

unfortunately the performance of the schools in the area in the last

Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) was nothing to write

home about. Mr Ayensu said he had therefore decided to support the needy

pupils this time round to encourage them to learn. The pupils were presented with uniforms, sandals, stationery

and a cash of GH=A25.00 each, whilst the adults received half piece of

cloth, scarf and cash of GH=A210.00 each. Mr Ayensu announced plans to establish an education

endowment fund to support needy children and also a micro-credit

scheme to cater for parents to make them self-supporting. He said both programmes would be launched early next year

and that GH=A25,000 had been made available for the start of the

micro-credit scheme. Mr Ayensu also promised to construct a toilet facility for the

Anomabo Anglican School. Ms Vivian Etroo, Mfantseman District Director of Education,

appealed to parents to show interest in educational programmes. Nana Ataapim Kweenu VIII, Presiding Member of the

Mfantseman District Assembly, commended Mr Ayensu for helping

the people and appealed to other well-to-do citizens to emulate

him. Katamanto Amonoo XI, Omanhene of the Traditional Area,

urged pupils in the area to take advantage of extension of

electricity to their communities to learn at night.
