Andanis unite over Yaa-Naa's funeral performance

The Andani Royals in the Dagbon Traditional Area are now united and ready to perform the funeral of the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II scheduled for January 4 to 18, 2019 at the Old Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.

The consensus was arrived at in Yendi today (Sunday) December 23 following a crucial meeting at the Temporary Palace in Yendi.

The Head of the Andani family, Yoo-Naa Bukari Mahama, Vo-Naa Alhaji M.B Bawa, Lamashegu- Naa Abdulai Ziblim among other prominent chiefs as well as Lawyer Ibrahima Mahama were at the said meeting.

By this latest development, the immediate family relations of the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II led by the Kampakuya-Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani have backed down on their decision not to participate in the funeral performance.

The Kampakuya-Naa in an earlier interview posited that the immediate family relations felt sidelined in the peace processes.

Addressing the media after the crucial meeting, the official Spokesperson of the Andani family,Vo-Naa Alhaji M.B Bawa said it was successful.

According to him, 23 chiefs and prominent leaders from the Andani family attended the meeting.

He assured the general public that the Kampakuya-Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani endorsed the decision to perform the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II funeral as scheduled.



"The Kampakuya-Naa Yakubu Abdulai Andani assured us that the funeral of the late Naa Yakubu will surely come on because he is also seeking to perform his father's funeral."

"He said unfortunately the press as well as some other people are calling him names by indicating that he doesn't want to perform his father's funeral. So he said that it is not true and that every son wants to perform his father's funeral and that his father's funeral performance rest on the leadership of the Andani family and that he was handing over everything about the funeral to the head of the Andani family."

The Vo-Naa further quoted the Kampakuya-Naa saying, "Whatever decisions that leadership and members of the Andani family who are concerned about the performance of the funeral, the decisions that they will take are what he will abide by and the funeral will come on as planned."

The former Northern Regional Council of State Representative said the Head of the Andani family, Yoo-Naa Bukari Mahama reaffirmed the family leadership's desire to do due diligence and meet the deadline of the Mediation Committee's schedule.
