The Municipal Chief Executive Officer of the Amenfi East, Raymond Nana Ebbah, has strongly refuted media reports that he incited an assault against the Member of Parliament for the area, Nicholas Amankwa, as some constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking with GhanaWeb via a phone interview, the MCE indicated that there was no truth in the claims that he masterminded any such violence.

“I wasn’t around where and what they are talking about. I wasn’t even anywhere close to where they say this thing happened. On the day, I was in my office with the DRIP Coordinator and another executive in a meeting.

“It is, therefore, shocking that I am being linked to some supposed attack on the MP of my area. This is purely to tarnish my image; it is pure politics,” he stated.

Violence erupts at Amansie West, Assembly Member reported dead

The Amenfi East MCE was responding to claims that he had deployed thugs to assault the Member of Parliament for the area, Nicholas Amankwah, and other party executives during a dispute over the appointment of a Municipal DRIP Coordinator on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

Referring to a video being circulated and claiming to be evidence of this claim, Raymond Ebbah said; “This is not true. I am not even in the video, as I was out of town at the time. And they say I butchered someone. Is that an easy thing to do?

“To address this matter properly, I have requested that the police conduct a thorough investigation so we can resolve it amicably and put it behind us. Our focus is to see that Amenfi East develops, and we are working tirelessly to ensure its prosperity and progress for all.”
