Amenfi East Assembly honours distinguished personalities.

Wassa-Akropong (W/R), Sept 18, GNA - Nine distinguished personalities were on Friday honoured by the Wassa Amenfi East District Assembly for their commitment, hard work and meritorious service to the development of the district.

They were presented with certificates and special assembly 'T' shirts at a reception organised for them by the district assembly.

They include Kasapreko Kwame Bassanyin III, Omanhene of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, Mr. Joseph Boahen Aidoo, Member of Parliament for the area, Dr Fredrick Yaw Sarpong, Medical Superintendent in charge of the Wassa Akropong Government Hospital and Mr. George Kofi Ntori, Amenfi East constituency chairman of the New Patriotic Party.

The rest were Mr. Philip Obeng and Mr J.K. Nemi, both businessmen, Nana Gyetua I, Odikro of Dikoto Junction, Nana Ntori Bonkyir Akomeah I, Chief of Wassa Amuni, Madam Caroline Bassanyin, leader of the local market women's association.

Madam Doris Gyapomaah Oduro, the District Chief Executive, said they contributed their quota to enhance the lives of the people and facilitated the work of the assembly that was created about two years ago.

She called on the people to burry their differences and forge ahead in unity to ensure the steady development of the young district. Madam Oduro said as a policy to harness potentials for accelerated development, the doors of the assembly were open for new ideas and all shades of opinion from the people irrespective of their political leaning.

She assured the people of the government's commitment to good governance, private sector and human resource development. Nana Bannor Ampia-Ben II, Wassa Amenfi Ankobeahene, commended the assembly for acknowledging the good works of the people and pledged the traditional council's support for the assembly.
