Amen Amen Institute marks World Food Day with a procession

Amen Amen Institute, a non-governmental organisation in partnership with the United Nations (UN) has embarked on a float to mark this year’s World Food Day celebrations.

The float, participated by members of Amen Amen Institute who came from various parts of Accra, was to sensitise farmers and highlight the need to encourage local production.

The members marched to the forecourt of the Ministry of Food Agriculture (MOFA) to commemorate the 37th World Food Day which falls on October 16.

This year’s celebration is being held under the theme: “Change the Future of Migration-Invest in Food Security and Rural Development.”

Mr Amen Amenreynolds, President of Amen Scientific Institute, said the Institute embarks on this activity every year to create the needed awareness as far as food security is concerned and expressed their commitment to support the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

Mr Amenreynolds also made a cash donation of GH¢10,000.00 to the Ministry towards the celebration of the Day and advised the youth to have respect for their leaders, to take their studies seriously and be hard working.

Mr Gilbert Ampeh, Deputy Director Ministry of Food and Agriculture, receiving the donation on behalf of the Ministry, expressed appreciation to Amen Amen Institute for the donation made.

He said this year’s celebration was taking place in Ejura in the Ashanti Region and expressed the hope that attendance in subsequent events would involve more in the society.

Amidst the gathering was an acrobatic display and songs from a brass band and members of the Institute also donated food items to the Ministry to be given to orphanages.
