Amansie West communities to enjoy electricity

Manso- Nkwanta (Ash), April 7, GNA - Thirty-one communities in the Amansie West District have been selected to be connected to the national electricity grid this year, Mr Charles Oti Prempeh, the District Chief Executive, has said. They include Manso-Domi, Beposo, Kwakokrom, Asuadai, Besease, Kobeda, Bonsaaso, Tontokrom, Apenimadi, Aboaboso, Watreso and Wonipanidua. He was addressing an ordinary meeting of the assembly at Manso-Nkwanta.

Mr Oti-Prempeh also spoke of efforts the assembly was making to refurbish schools in the area to enhance teaching and learning, saying the assembly had bought 1,000 bags of cement and 50 bundles of roofing sheets for the purpose. Pakyi-Number-One, Domi, Keniago and Manso-Nkwanta are among communities that had already been supplied with cement and roofing sheets to put their school structures into good shape. He told the meeting that a Revenue Task Force had been set up to help improve on the assembly's revenue collection. He said the assembly was determined to block all leakages in the revenue collection system.

Mr Asafo Akowuah, the Presiding Member, appealed to his colleagues in the assembly to support revenue collectors assigned to their communities to help increase revenue from the traditional sources. They should also help educate the people about the need to pay their taxes. The Member of Parliament, Ms Grace Addo, called for massive patronage of the on-going National Identification Registration exercise and appealed for extension of the 10 days registration period to enable all the people in the area to be covered. 07 April 10
