Akyempim Chief destooled

Akyempim (W/R), April 13, GNA - Nana Okumfo Nuamah I, Chief of Wassa Akyempim, has been destooled.

The Queenmother of the town, Nana Amoako Gyampah reported the destoolment of the Nana Nuamah I, to the Akempim Police yesterday. Under the pretext of rendering family funeral accounts, Nana Nuamah was confined in a room at the palace and later a sheep was slaughtered, signifying his destoolment and was later reported to the police. Briefing GNA at Akyempim, Supt. Slim Munford, Tarkwa District Police Commander said a team of policemen was dispatched to beef up the number in the town to maintain peace and order. According to him, there had not been any resistance from any faction in the town.

He said after slaughtering of a sheep, Nana Nuamah was ejected from the palace.

Nana Nuamah then sought refuge at the house of Abusuapanyin (family head) Nana Kweku Amoako.

He later, requested for police assistance to be accompanied to Tarkwa and thence to Takoradi, where he resides. Supt. Mumford said earlier, the wife of Nana Nuamah reported to the police that, her husband had been kidnapped in a room at the palace. He said Police went to enquire but were told it was a family gathering and no sign of confusion was realized there. According to Supt. Manford the Queenmother ruled that Nana Nuamah had disgraced her and the entire family.

He said about three months ago, Nana Nuamah misconducted himself at a Tarkwa circuit court, during a trial, which was purported to be rude and disrespectful to the Queenmother, which has caused his destoolment.
