Akyem Otwereso earmarks 1billion cedis for development

Otewereso (E/R), Aug 30, GNA - Mr Kwaku Adomako Fosu, Chairman of the North American branch of the Akyem Otwereso Youth Association, on Tuesday called on the youth in the town to support development projects in the town.

He said being involved in development projects would motivate and encourage Otwereso citizens resident abroad to send down money to finance development projects in the town.

Mr Adomako said this at a meeting with the chiefs, members of the town's development committee and members of the town's youth association at Akyem Otwereso.

The meeting was at the instance of the youth association to discuss how to finance the construction of a community water project, completion of the Presbyterian Primary School building and expansion and extension of electricity to the community health centre costing over one billion cedis.

Mr Adomako said the town's citizens resident abroad were always prepared to assist in the development of the town and urged the youth to eschew any tendency that would retard the town's development. He donated 30 bags of cement towards the projects and thanked the Japan Embassy in Accra for assisting the town to get connected to the national electricity grid. Osabarima Ofosu Kwabi II, Chief of the town, called on parents to take advantage of the capitation grant and send their children to school.
