Akwasiase market inaugurated

Akwasiase (Ash), Jan 24, GNA- A 118-million cedis market constructed under the district assemblies common fund has been inaugurated at Akwasiase near Tepa in the Ahafo-Ano North district of Ashanti.

The market, which comprises 40 stalls was inaugurated on Tuesday, Mr Akwasi Adu-Poku, the District Chief Executive.

He appealed to the people to bury their differences and unite behind the chief and the unit committee members to ensure that there is absolute peace in the area for the implementation of the various development projects planned for them.

He advised the people who are using their residential places as markets to go to appropriate place for buying and selling. Mr Adu-Poku appealed to the beneficiaries of the stalls to pay their taxes to the district assembly regularly and ensure good environmental cleanliness at the market place.

The DCE used the occasion to remind the people of the dangers of the HIV/AIDS and advised couples to stay with their partners and the youth to abstain from sex.

He explained the importance of the district health insurance scheme to the people and advised them to register after the sensitisation programme in the district is over in order to have access to quality but affordable health care.
