Akuapem South and West Akyem Municipal Executives sworn into office

Koforidua, July 6, GNA - Mr George Mensah Akpalu and Mr Mark Amoako Dompreh, Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs) for West Akyem and Akuapem South respectively were on Wednesday sworn into office at a ceremony in Koforidua.

The two MCEs took the oath of allegiance, oath of secrecy and official oath of office.

Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, Eastern Regional Minister, who swore the MCEs into office reminded them that they were to serve as the President's representatives in their respective areas.

He challenged them to emulate the style of the President by living above reproach and to endeavour to maintain the peace in their municipalities at all times.

Dr Apea-Kubi charged them to accelerate the pace of development at their municipalities to help improve the living standards of the people. He advised them to work in co-operation with chiefs in their areas and to apply the manifesto of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in all their dealings.

The Regional Minister reminded them that there had been a gab for six months when their municipalities were without MCEs and they should therefore work extra hard to fill the void.

He tasked them to ensure that the NDC is attractive to floating voters and unity was maintained within their ranks.

Mr Akpalu, on behalf of his colleague, thanked the President for the confidence reposed in them and gave the assurance that they would live up to expectation.
