Akim Achiase Presbyterian Church elevated to full status

Akim Achiase (E/R), Nov 14, GNA - The Reverend Dr Sam Prempeh, the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has appealed to Christians to tolerate all shapes of opinion in order to help build a peaceful, unitedand stable society.
He said differences in views and opinions should not breed hatred or conflicts but rather promote community and national development. Rev Dr Prempeh made these remarks at a ceremony at which the Akim Achiase sub-district of the Presbyterian church of Ghana was elevated to a full district status.
He appealed to Christians to be in the forefront of ensuring sustainability of the country's young democracy adding that "It is our civic and social responsibility which we cannot ignore."
The Rev Dr Charles Gyan-Duah, Clerk of the General Assembly of the church, reminded Christians that they had a responsibility in the crusade to fight immorality and corruption.
He said fighting corruption is a united effort and urged the government and all religious bodies to join in partnership to champion the moral crusade to eradicate corruption from the society.
Nana Baafour Awuah, II, Gyaasehene of Akim Achiase, said he was happy that the church had been concerned not only with the spiritual growth but also with social the economic and transformation of the society. He expressed the hope that the activities of the church in the provision of amenities would be accelerated to enhance the socio-economic development of the country, particularly in the deprived areas. With the elevation of Akim Achiase sub-district into a full district the Presbyterian Church of Ghana now has 188 districts in the country.
